Harrie Wears: Winter Make up

DSC00057January is a funny month for make up. In December the make up hype goes through the roof, everyone is talking about wearing a festive lip and putting as much glitter on their face as possible. However, in January the whole make up buzz seems to die off and everyone goes skin care mad. Which I do not love.

I mean I know that skincare is important, but I find it a lot less fun then make up. I love reading and watching posts about make up and seeing what the trends are at that moment. So I thought that I would break the blogger trend and talk to you about what is on my face right now.

Firstly, nothing really changes, my go to base is always some for of No.7 in Cool Vanilla. This colour is just the right shade for my skin tone and I never find that I look orange or too pale. It always just looks like my skin but without the redness and more perfected. In the winter I do like more coverage than in the summer so I am wearing the Beautifully Matte version at the moment, and I like to build it up to a very high coverage.

Then I go in with concealer. At the moment I am not really in love with any concealer, I am using two which are the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the NYX HD Concealer. They are both quite similar in the fact that they are both creamy and full coverage. They do the job but I am definitely on the hunt for a better concealer. DSC00060 After all that my skin looks very basic, so I need to put some warmth back into my face. To do this I use the Soap and Glory Solar Powder on my temples, under my cheek bones and on my neck. I do this in a very soft contour way and then with whatever is left on the brush I take down my nose, just where the sun would normally catch me.

The final step on my face is blusher. I am currently obsessed with the MaxFactor Creme Puff blushers and I am using the slightly darker pink colour (Lavish Mauve) which I think is perfect for winter. It isn't too pink and doesn't give off that summery coral vibe, its just a lovely wintry colour.

On to the eyes. DSC00062 Firstly, I do my brows with the Bourjois Sourcil Pencil. This pencil is not perfect but it is the best thing I have found right now and the colour works well with my natural shade.

On my eyelids I change on a day to day basis, but it is always an Urban Decay shade. I tend to switch between the Naked shade from the Naked 1 palette and Stark from the Naked Basics 2. I take them on a MAC 217 brush and blend the hell out of them until they look as natural as possible.

Then I go in with a black liquid liner. I am so attached to liner now that I don't know if I would be able to class a make up look as 'finished' without it. I feel like it is becoming my signature thing and I feel bare without it. I am loving the Rimmel Exaggerate liquid liner. I started off with very wobbly lines, but slowly but surely I am nailing it. DSC00064 Finally, I use two mascaras so create a long voluminous fluttery look. Firstly I use Rimmel Lash Accelerator to make sure my eyelashes are evenly separated and this mascara adds serious length. Then I go in with the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara too add volume. DSC00058 The last step in my whole make up routine is lips. This tends to change depending on what I am doing, on a weekend when I am going out for dinner or doing something a little bit more special I will use the NARS Audacious lipstick in Vera. But for an everyday make up look I use either Rimmel 03 with the No7 liner or I use the NYX Matte with a bit of Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Charm Offensive to add a nice shine to the lips.

And there you go, that it my wintry make up look.

What do you think?
