I work in an office, and the office I work in doesn't have a strict dress code. In fact, I think the dress code is just not to look too casual, which is pretty good and leaves you to be quite imaginative and creative. However, who can really be bothered to be creative and thoughtful first thing in morning? Here is how I try to do a comfortable work style.
Although we do have a fair amount of freedom, we still need to appear smart and presentable. We still need to wear 'office wear' and for me the main thing about what I am wearing is comfort. I have to be comfortable all day but I still want to have a bit of style, and if I am not comfortable then that outfit simply won't be worn again.
Also, my boss has a habit of opening the window so it can be a little bit chilly so again, I need to wear something I can layer up to keep warm.
This is by far my most worn outfit for work. One because it is just so effortless, it looks nice on its own but if I am doing something that requires me to look a little bit nicer I can accessorise and make it look smarter. Also, due to the fact the dress has the smock structure, it is so comfy.
When I am feeling a little self conscious or it is the time of month where I feel a little bloated then I tend to wear it in full smock style and let it be baggy and over sized. I find this so comfortable and easy to wear. It is like being in pyjamas all day long. However, when I feel as though I want some more structure to the dress and I want to show people that yes, I do have a waist, then I put on a belt just to cinch it in and give me more of a figure.
I normally pair this with thick black tights and small black ankle boots. Again, this is to keep me warm and the boots protect my feel from the awful April showers we have been suffering lately. I just don't think you can go wrong with ankle boots.
As I commute a small while to work everyday I like to make my work style not too work like, and I still want to look like a 20 year old. Is that a really sad statement to make? So I throw on my leather jacket just to keep it really casual and toned down. Also, it keeps me really warm and dry and again, it is really comfortable. Finally, I use the biggest bag ever. I am going to do a what is in my bag video on this bag soon, so keep tuned for that. But let me just tell you, it fits everything in and it is the work bag of dreams. I love it so much, and I get quite a lot of compliments on it. It is really simple and goes with everything but importantly it fits in all the snacks I need for a successful day at work.
