My Current Streamlined Make Up Menu
I have said it before and I will say it again, I am lazy. I can't help it. I am pretty sure that is just how I am programmed. I am also not a morning person... Given those two factors, if I am able to spend 10 minutes extra in bed then I will. But I also like looking put together for work, like I am at least making an effort, and therefore a balance has to happen somewhere.
I think after a couple of years, I have finally got my morning routine down to a tee. Which means I know exactly how long it takes me to get ready, therefore I know if I can squeeze in those extra few minutes in bed or not.
One place I have definitely streamlined to perfection is my make up. On a day to day basis I keep things pretty uniform, experimenting and being adventurous on weekend or when I do have a bit more time. But for the most part, its pretty same old.
For base, I am in love with Revlon Colorstay. I am not sure what it is, whether it's the really good colour match or if it is the formula that I love so much. I find it to be a really easy to wear medium coverage base that just looks undetectable on the skin, but really helps to even out my patchy skintone. Following on from this, I use either the Borjouis Healthy Mix concealer, or cult classic Collection Lasting Perfection in shade light. It will depend on how my skin is behaving that day for what kind of coverage I need. Finally, I quickly dust over some Rimmel Stay Matte powder just to set everything in place.
Next I move on to brows, as this takes me the longest time. I have really cut time by combining products, as I have been using shade Primal from the Naked Basics 2 palette to fill in the sparseness in my brows. This colour works so well with my darker hair, and I find it really easy to create a natural looking shape. I also use this palette to dust some colour onto my eyelids, using Stark as a base colour and Cover into the crease. Finally, I will add a thin liquid line using Rimmel Exaggerate liner, before adding multiple layers of L'oreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture. This mascara is by far the quickest one I have ever used to give my lashes length, volume and definition - and I am fickle when it comes to mascara.
Finally, I will finish off my face make up. Usually I like to shape my face using the ELF Cosmetics Contour Palette on the hollows of my cheeks, down my nose and onto my forehead. I will then sweep a tiny bit of Soap & Glory Solar Powder bronzer over my whole face to give me a little bit of colour, especially as we approach the sunnier months. Then I will take a tiny bit of blusher (the product changes daily depending on my mood) and buff onto the apples of my cheeks. Done.
I know this seems like a lot of products, but this honestly takes me no longer than 15 minutes to complete and will last the entire day. Maybe one day I will lose the liner and get my eyebrows done professionally to save even more time, but who knows!
